Repair or replace: how we decide
There's a set area of a tyre that can be repaired, roughly the middle three quarters of the tread. A puncture in that area, as long as it isn't too big, can be repaired properly and permanently.
Damage outside it can't. Sidewall cuts, punctures on the shoulder, and anything that's been driven on flat for long enough to wreck the inside of the tyre all need a replacement, however much you'd like it to be otherwise. We'll tell you which you've got before we start, not after.

A proper repair, not a plug
A proper repair means the tyre comes off the rim so we can inspect the inside, prepare the hole and repair it from the inside out.
The string plug you can buy in a tin and push through from the outside is a get-you-home fix, not a repair. We don't fit them and we wouldn't want one on our own cars. That goes for a booked visit and for an emergency puncture repair at two in the morning.

If it cannot be saved
The van carries stock, so most of the time we can fit a replacement in the same visit and you're not left arranging something else.

Sidewall damage
Cracks, bulges and cuts in the sidewall can never be repaired. If you've clipped a kerb hard and there's a bulge, the tyre needs replacing.

Slow punctures
A tyre that needs topping up every week has got something in it. We'll find the leak properly instead of guessing.
